What is Facial Resurfacing?
Facial resurfacing is a term used to describe different treatments that can help to smooth away imperfections in the skin. Facial resurfacing allows products to penetrate deep into the tissue to help stimulate collagen production, hydration, and new cell growth. The procedure can address more persistent or deep-rooted skin concerns that don't respond to lighter treatments like a facial. At Seaside Aesthetics, different tools or medical-grade products are carefully administered by a licensed professional to help deliver smoother skin with a more even, youthful skin tone.
How Can Facial Resurfacing Benefit Me?
Many treatments are specially designed to target areas in the skin that can be difficult to correct. Additionally, many of the procedures available at our facility can help to improve the skin's natural elasticity and stimulate collagen production. In turn, these services can help lift your skin and deliver a more youthful appearance. Other benefits of facial resurfacing include:
· Treats fine lines, wrinkles, and deep furrows in the skin
· Reduces the appearance of deep scarring, including acne scars and sun damage
· Targets unwanted pigmentation from sun exposure and aging
· Refines pores
· Retexturizes skin
· Delivers smooth, even skin tone and complextion
What Type of Techniques Are Used to Resurface the Skin?
Facial resurfacing can refer to many different cosmetic treatments, including dermaplaning, micro-needling, chemical peels, and more. At Seaside Aesthetics, we offer the following procedures:
IPL Photo Facial
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light, which delivers multiple wavelengths directly into the problem area to target the cells that are responsible for pigmentation, located underneath the skin. This help corrects aging and sun damage, as well as other skin concerns.
Non-Ablative Fractional Laser Resurfacing
This specialized laser allows us to target damaged skin cells and destroy them, without harming the healthy skin surrounding it. This treatment is recommended for fine lines, deep wrinkles, acne scarring, and loss of elasticity. It can also help stimulate new skin regeneration, to help deliver a smoother, more youthful result.
Micro-needling with PRP
A popular approach to facial resurfacing, micro-needling is a versatile technique that can be used as a standalone treatment or in combination with something else. At Seaside Aesthetics, we recommend pairing it with Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) to maximize the potential for naturally-occurring results, such as boosting collagen and new skin cell growth. We use the Eclipse MicroPen® to deliver a controlled, precise treatment that creates micro-injuries in the skin to kick-start that body's natural healing and regeneration process.
Epionce Sal-E Mal-E Peels
This cleverly-named product used Salicylic and Malic Acids to deliver a powerful refinishing treatment that strips away the imperfection and damage located on the upper layers of skin, slowly revealing the natural blemish-free texture underneath. This high-grade peel helps to increase cell turnover time and minimize your downtime.
Many of our aesthetic services are tailored to suit different skin concerns, so contact us today to discuss combining or customizing any of these treatments.
Does Facial Resurfacing Hurt?
Our facility strives to make each patient's experience as enjoyable and as comfortable as possible. We understand that some of these treatments may expose our patients to minor pressure, redness, swelling, or mild pain. To help alleviate any discomfort during treatment, we do offer topical and local numbing solutions as well as ice packs. During the healing process, your skin may sting, burn, or be sensitive to the touch while it heals; it’s best to avoid sun exposure or chemicals in lotions or makeup during this time.
How Long Does the Procedure Take to Complete?
Facial resurfacing involves delicate procedures that are tailored to treat each patient’s unique skin conditions and imperfections. Typically, skin enhancement procedures like facial resurfacing take around 45 minutes to an hour, but this may differ for each patient.
